Chewy's Graduation
It has been a busy week and I've been meaning to update this. A week ago Saturday, Chewy, the dog, woke me up sneezing. It feels like an earthquake when he's leaning againt the bed. He was sneezing badly, but of course the vet was closed for the long weekend, so we went to PuppySchool. I figured he had something stuck up his nose. The next day the family got together for Rob's birthday. My daughter-in-law is almost speaking to me. She does glare, but I guess I won't win "The most evil mother-in-law" award this year. Close.
I gave Rob a radio for his car since his had been stolen. He tried to put it in, then the car battery went dead. We replaced it the next day along with part of the battery cable. I managed to get some writing done on Monday, which was nice.
Then it was back to work which was so quiet with no students in the morning. I spent hours trying to get the schedule so that the teachers got the hours they wanted. The students were moving around their times so fast, I couldn't keep up. I only had one teacher come in a the wrong time, which I think was excellent. Then Thursday as I'm leaving, one of the teacher's quit. I have 20 of them who work anywhere from three hours a week to twenty. I had some unkindly thoughts about him and now I have to start over again tomorrow with the schedule. It used to be the teachers got a schedule the week before school started, beginning of second semester and a week before summer started. Lately, it's been nearly every day they've gotten changes. I'm waiting for the threats.
On top of this, Chewy was still sneezing. Rob took him to the vet Wednesday, then we had to take him back Thursday morning after starving him all night so they could knock him out and put a tube up his nose to see what was in it. Nearly $300 later I have no difinitive answer. He sneezed it out. It's up to high to see and if it doesn't get better, he's off to a specialist. (I figured it was a fox tail.) It could be allergies or a tumor, but he's too young for either. So he has pills and nose drops. He takes the pills right down. I think I might have gotten some of the nose drops in him rather than on him, me and Rob.
Saturday Chewy graduated from Puppy School and if all goes right, a picture of him will appear. He did everything he was suppose to except roll over. He won't even go on his side if another dog is around. Of course, this is the first time and probably the last he did everything he was suppose to.
I missed graduation because I had to be at the Romance Writers of America Orange County Chapter meeting early because I did Ask An Author. It was fun since I was the only one and I actually got to talk. The other author always talks over me.
Today I been trying to get caught up on promotional stuff and stuff for the next book, The Kilted Governess, a historical romance novel, coming out from Amber Quill Press. I did the Author Info Sheet and gave up on the Cover Art sheet. I'm never sure what should be on the cover. My old kitty, Porky, is really sick. Of course. It's the weekend. He has an appointment at the vet's on Friday, but I'm going to have to change it to tomorrow. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to have to mortage the house to pay the vet.
